Our Clinic
About My Speech & OT Centre
Personalised, neuro-affirming speech and occupational therapy for children and young adults in Ashmore.
Supporting Children and Families Since 2019
My Speech & OT Centre is a neuro-affirming clinic in Ashmore, providing speech pathology and occupational therapy for children and young adults.
Our team of speech pathologists, occupational therapists and allied health assistants provides personalised, evidence-based support across communication, literacy, motor and everyday life skills.
We take a strengths-based, collaborative approach, working alongside each client and family to build confidence and support meaningful participation in everyday life.
Therapy Shaped Around the Individual
Every child and young person brings their own strengths, experiences and ways of engaging with the world. Our neuro-affirming, strengths-based approach respects these differences and allows therapy to be shaped around what is meaningful to each client and family.
We combine current clinical evidence with professional experience, family insight and individual goals to provide support that is purposeful, practical and responsive.
What We Focus On
Practical, individualised support that connects the work done in therapy with everyday life.
Welcoming Therapy Spaces
Calm, organised and welcoming spaces designed to help clients and families feel comfortable and supported.
Clear, Achievable Goals
Meaningful and achievable goals developed around each client’s individual strengths, needs and priorities.
Collaborative Care
Speech pathology and occupational therapy teams work together, where appropriate, to provide coordinated and individualised support.
Support Beyond the Clinic
Working closely with families to support developing skills and strategies at home and within everyday routines.
Tools That Make Therapy Engaging
Therapy looks different for every client. Our team uses a range of practical and engaging resources selected around individual goals, interests and ways of learning.
Therapy Vending Machine
An interactive, play-based resource that can create opportunities for choosing, requesting, following steps and taking turns. Using the controls and handling the items can also support fine motor coordination.
Speech Pathology & Occupational Therapy
Flying Helicopter
A playful cause-and-effect activity that can support following directions, waiting and turn-taking. Launching and tracking the helicopter may also encourage motor planning, hand-eye coordination and visual attention.
Speech Pathology & Occupational Therapy
Face Squishy Ball
A tactile resource that can support sensory exploration, finger strength and hand use. Its expressive face can also create opportunities to talk about emotions, facial expressions and descriptive language.
Occupational Therapy & Speech Pathology
Grip Strength Trainer
A hand-strengthening resource used in occupational therapy, where appropriate, to develop grip strength and endurance for everyday fine motor tasks.
